What is Durga Ashtami?
Durga Ashtami, the eighth night of Sharad Navratri, is the fiercest and most heavily observed of the nine — the night Durga is held to have met Mahishasura.
How it is observed
Sandhi Puja is offered at the junction of Ashtami and Navami. Many households perform Kanya Pujan, feeding and honouring nine young girls as the Goddess.
