What is Maha Navami?

Maha Navami is the ninth and final night of Sharad Navratri, closing the Goddess’s worship before Dussehra. In the south it is Ayudha Puja, the day tools and instruments are honoured.

How it is observed

Weapons, books, vehicles and machinery are cleaned, garlanded and left unused for the day. The Navratri fast is broken after the Kanya Pujan.
