Best placed in the ನೈಋತ್ಯ
The south-west is the classical staircase placement, for the same reason it takes the master bedroom — it is where the tradition wants the building’s weight.
What the ನೈಋತ್ಯ governs
The south-west — Nairutya — is the earth corner: the heaviest, most grounded part of the plan. It is where the tradition puts what should not move, which is why the master bedroom and the structural mass belong here and water does not.
Where the ಸೀಢ಼ೀ belongs
A staircase is mass and movement together, which is why the tradition treats it like structure rather than circulation. It belongs in the heavy half, turns clockwise, and never sits over the centre of the plan.
