Best placed in the પૂર્વ
East is a classical living-room placement, taking first light and seating the head of the household facing east.
What the પૂર્વ governs
East is Indra’s direction and the Sun’s: the first light, and the direction the tradition orients study, prayer and the start of the day towards. Like the north it wants openness rather than mass.
Where the બૈઠક belongs
The living room is where the household meets guests, so the tradition places it in the open, light half of the plan and keeps the seating arrangement — not just the room — in view: the head of the household faces east or north.
